PQ Geminorum = RE0751+14

A finding chart for PQ Gem

SkyView image of PQ Gem (see important notes).

Position
  • Equatorial: 07h51m17.33s, +14d44m23.9s (J2000, star 1)
  • Galactic: l=206.06, b=+19.77
Finding Chart:
Mason et al. (1992)
Brigntness:
Optical ; fx (2-10 keV)~2.3x10-11 ergs/cm2/s (ASCA)
Periods:
  • Orbital: 0.211636 d = 5.1926 hr= 18693.4 s
    HJD=2449333.984(4)+0.216359(3)E
(Hellier 1997a) for red-to-blue crossing of the emission lines, though there is some uncertainty over the cycle count.
  • Spin: 0.009646 d = 13.89 min = 833.41 s, seen in X-rays and optical.
    HJD (I-max) = 2449297.9730(1) + 0.0096459939(17)E + 5.0(3)x10^(-13)E^2
    (Hellier 1997a)
This ephemeris needs to be updated.
See the complex X-ray spin pulse shapes.
  • Others: 14.5 min sideband period.
Inclination:
Low? (little orbital modulation)
Distance:

This prototype soft IP is spinning down. Polarization is detected in R and I, suggesting B in the 8-18 MG range.
