A finding chart for V1223 Sgr

SkyView image of V1223 Sgr (see important notes).

Position
  • Equatorial: 18h55m02.0s, -31d09m48s (J2000)
  • Galactic: l=4.96, b=-14.35
Finding Chart:
Steiner et al (1981)
Brigntness:
Optical ; fx (2-10 keV)~8.8x10^(-11) ergs/cm/cm/s (ASCA)
Periods:
  • Orbital: 0.140244 d = 3.365856 hr = 12117.1 s
    T(max) = HJD 2444749.986(3) + 0.1402440(4) E
    (Jablonski & Steiner 1988)
  • Spin: 0.00863 d = 12.43 min = 745.63 s, seen in X-rays and (occasionally) in the optical.
    Tmax = HJD 2445619.1772(2) + 0.00863(5) E
    (Osborne et al 1985) is now pitifully out of date --- is there a better one somewhere?
    See the canonical spin profiles
  • Others: The 794.379 s sideband is more prominent than the spin period in the optical.
    Tmax = HJD 2444508.47235(4) + 0.009194204(2) E + 1.28(7)x10-13 E2
    (Jablonski & Steiner 1988)
Inclination:
16-40 (Watts et al. 1985).
Distance:
510 pc (Beuermann et al. 2004)

One of the brightest IPs, certainly in the X-rays, but appears to have been neglected.
