Minutes of 2 March 2001 Meeting
Present: Waite, do Couto e Silva, Hartman, Thompson,
Kamae, Lovellette, Mazziotta, Sadrozinski, Ritz.
The agenda and discussion points are available at http://lheawww.gsfc.nasa.gov/~ritz/INT/Kickoff_SR.pdf.
We reviewed the charge and the scope of the work, and
starting dividing up tasks (see action items below).
Assessing the tests:
- LAT PS
science requirements: ACTION: RITZ for next meeting.
- LAT PS
environmental requirements: ACTION NORDBY for next
meeting.
- Functional
testing. It was noted here by
Lovellette that there are different categories of functional testing:
- tests
to tell if the instrument is alive at each stage
- tests
of the modes that use the redundant systems
- operational
tests (e.g., run as a day in the life of the instrument, etc.)
- Review
of subsystem tests. Note that this
committee will not design the detailed subsystem tests done prior to
integration into the LAT, but it must review these tests for coherence and
completeness. We heard brief
reports from the subsystem representatives who were present of the current
status and schedule of this planning.
More detailed presentations will be given at future meetings, as
the subsystems are ready. ACTION: TKR Sadrozinski and Mazziotta; CAL Phlips and
Cordier; ACD Hartman and Thompson; Electronics Haller; Flight Software
Waite. It was suggested
that this planning include uniform ways to establish and track the performance
and technical margin at each level of testing.
Calibration plan
This flows from the set of tests derived above. There was a brief discussion of the
status. Several people (do Couto e
Silva, Kamae, Ritz, Hartman, Thompson) expressed interest in helping to develop
this further.
I&T plan
Inputs are the calibration plan, environmental tests,
functional tests, testing done by the subsystems. The status is given in Martin Nordby’s Lehman review talk (see ftp://ftp.slac.stanford.edu/groups/glast/Lehman/Final_Drafts/IT_Final2.ppt). ACTION: Nordby will
present the status of the I&T flow at the next meeting.
Facilities, Equipment, Resources planning
do Couto e Silva, Kamae, et al
volunteered to start work on:
- beam
planning (assess what beams will be available at SLAC)
- assess
subsystem plans for their respective engineering models
- planning
on documentation and databases
Other business
The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Friday 16
March, 8:30 AM PST, to be confirmed by email.
