ascascreen/tkascascreen
- ascascreen is a Perl program designed to make it easier to
generate cleaned data. It creates a script and then feeds this
script to xselect. We recommend initial cleaning be performed using
this script.
- ascascreen prompts the user for clean criteria and lists
the standard default. The clean criteria used are...
- Angle from bright Earth limb
- Angle from Earth limb
- Cut-off rigidity (alias McIlwain L)
- Time from day/night transition (SIS)
- Time from SAA passage
- Number of CCD pixels above threshold (SIS)
- For the SIS ascascreen checks what clocking modes are available
and whether the area discriminator is in use. These cases should be
analyzed separately because background and response characteristics differ.
- For the SIS ascascreen runs the sisclean command to remove
flickering pixels. For the GIS ascascreen runs the gisclean command to
improve background rejection (it may be necessary to fill the RTI
column in your events files - if you get asked whether you want this
done say yes).
- The end result of an ascascreen run is a single event file which
can be read back into xselect for further cleaning and data product
creation.
- tkascascreen is a GUI-driven version of ascascreen.
