Oral Session #34 at the
191st meeting of the American Astronomical Society
inWashington DC will be devoted to recent discoveries about the nature of
the extremely luminous and massive star Eta Carinae. This session will
highlight new radio, near-IR, optical, and X-ray observations prior to (and
during?) the predicted "spectroscopic event" expected to occur in early
1998, along with implications for the single-star-vs-binary star models.
This session will also include contributions discussing the nature and
origin of the extended nebulosity around the star.
