PRESENT POSITION
Astrophysicist, Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics

EDUCATION
Ph.D., Physics, Stanford University, 2001
Advisor: Prof. Blas Cabrera. Thesis: Theory and Development of Position-Sensitive Quantum Calorimeters
M.S., Physics, Stanford University, 1997
B.S., Mechanical Engineering, University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, 1995

RESEARCH INTERESTS
Dr. Figueroa's research interests have been centered on the development of X-ray astronomical instrumentation. In the Laboratory for High Energy Astrophysics he has been involved with Constellation-X (main instrument design, testing and modeling), the X-ray Quantum Calorimeter rocket payload (operation, calibration, and launch), and Astro-E2 (calibration, analysis, and modeling). He is also interested in the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich Effect (SZE) and Cosmology.
