COMPTEL has been on-orbit for eight years and in that time performed most of its flare observations in the first year of the mission. However, the first year of the mission proved to be fruitful. In the intervening years we have employed spectral analysis techniques that differ from those used to date to deconvolve both the gamma ray and neutron spectra from several flares, including both classical impulsive flares and those exhibiting long duration high-energy gamma-ray emission. In this brief review I will highlight some of the more interesting results, including work in progress, that have come from these analyses and reflect upon the solar physics implications of them.
