A metric type II burst was observed during the hard
X-ray flare of 1997 April 15 imaged by the Yohkoh Hard X-ray Telescope.
This is one of the rare events with no associated coronal mass ejection.
The type II burst did not extend into the Wind WAVES spectral domain. However,
a series of type III bursts were observed following the type II burst.
We discuss the sources of the shock and the electron beam based on the
analysis of Yohkoh, SOHO and Wind spacecraft data. We also discuss the
magnetic environment of the active region which produced this event.
