Mansion is the Japanglish (or Engrish) word for condominiums and apartments. I think it came into use in the late 1960s or early 1970s, referring to well-built, modern apartments as opposed to many older, apartments ("apaato") mostly from the immediate post-war periods that were often rather shoddy. The biggest problem may be their limited check-in hours. It appears that "Weekly Mansion" is a chain. You can read the details of their Machida location, if you can read Japanese. It appears that their front desk is open only between 9 am and 6 pm, thus the check-in is between 2pm and 6pm. Despite this shortcoming, it may be a good option if you are planning to stay at ISAS for more than a week.
They have a map showing the hotel in relation to the rest of Machida. Even though everything is in Japanese, you may be able to figure out where the hotel is just by studying the map. Click on the map, and print out the new new window that pops up (the top-right orange box in this new window is supposed to print, but it doesn't work with several browsers I've tested - just use the print function of your browser).
The "Weekly Mansion" is just up the road from the Ellcy in Machida so it is still very convenient for walking to the train station. The cost is 5,500 Yen/night for stays of 7 nights or more (7,200/night for less than 7, 4,900 for more than a month).
The place is very clean, modern and looks brand new. The staff can understand and speak enough english for a novice to get by. There is a laundry room, and free internet in the room which is extremely handy.
Making local and international calls from the room is very convenient - you put a deposit with the front desk and make local calls until you reach the deposit amount (the rate is very good, unlike hotels). For international calls you use a card which you can get from the machine in the lobby.
However, to offset the low cost, there is no daily cleaning service and you have to take the trash out yourself. You can get clean sheets at a small cost. Still, the other advantages, especially the ready-to-go internet connection make up for it.
