The Proportional Counter Array (PCA) consists of five coaligned
proportional counter units (PCUs). Each PCU has three detector layers which
contain xenon. Background rejection is effected with side and back guard
chambers containing xenon and a front cell containing propane. The PCA has
a nominal bandpass of 2-60 keV and an energy resolution of 18% at
6 keV.
