ASCA - Spectrum of center of SN1006

XX insert text pointing out the particular shape of the spectrum and comparing it to the other X-ray spectra already seen...XX

Spectrum of the dim center of SN1006 taken by the ASCA satellite.

Why doesn't the spectrum of the whole remnant look like this?

Would you be able to tell what one particular person in the middle of a school auditorium was saying, if the room were filled with other students? Probably not, unless the person you were trying to hear had some kind of a microphone or unless everyone else were being very very quiet.

In the case of SN1006, the spectrum of the center looks different that the overall spectrum because the emission from the center is a small contribution to the total emission. The shape of the emission from the center does not affect the shape of the whole spectrum very strongly.

What kind of emission does this spectrum from the center of SN1006 look like?
